When I was little. I lived in a house were some strange things happened. My parents are skeptical. And any time I heard voices, a door slammed or else, they would always tell me it was my imagination or a dream. As I grew up. I started to see a shadow figure watching me from my bathrooms door. At the beginning it was more like mist. But it was something that was starting to attach to me. After some years the shadow I always saw, started to change. It began to take the figure of a human wearing a hat. And as this happened every time I saw the shadow I experienced sleep paralysis. Until the shadow vanished. As time passed the Hatman started to become more clearly in his shadow, the shadow started to acquire more detail. The shadow man was wearing Victorian clothes and had long hair. Then I just not saw him as a shadow but in my dreams, he was a pale man, that looked calm. But every time I dreamt with him. I felt my energy was being stolen. So every morning I started to wake up very weak, and with almost no energy. My health started to decay, but didn´t had anemia. Doctors said I was having my sugar levels very low. They gave me medicine, but it didn´t matter if the Hatman appeared in my dreams. After some years we moved on from that house, and I stopped seeing that shadow figure, or dreaming about it. Also I recovered my health with no medicine at all. I had never seen again the man in the hat. By Angel L.

I was 15 years the first and only time I saw him. It was in nov. of 1998, I had just had my son, (he was a week old) 2 days later my great grandmother died. I will never forget it. I was lying in bed and I woke up because I had to use the bathroom. Then I saw him standing beside my sons basinet. I was scared, so I pulled the covers over my head and layed there for awhile. Then I peeked my head out and he was gone, so I went to the bathroom (which was beside my bedroom) but when I looked out the door he was standing there in the livingroom staring at me again. Then as mysteriously as he appeared he vanished. I have never saw him again. By Heather Oliver

I was around 7. Back then I was living with my grandma and mother in the same house, it was around 10PM already so mom told me to go to sleep because tomorrow I have school. I went to my room and locked it, as I usually do, then looked at my bed and sighed heavily while going towards it, got myself comfortable in it and just stared at the darkness that was in my room until my eyes got used to it, in the end I decided to take some sleep. I woke up suddenly after some hours all sweatty with my heart beating extremely fast, I didn’t know what was going on so I took a look around me, everything seemed fine, the door was still closed, the window was closed, the art books on my shelf were at their place, even the curtains didn’t move an inch. I came up to the conclusion that it was just a dream, so I calmed down and decided to go back to sleep. While turning my head to the left of my room I saw it, a tall shadow in the corner of my room which seemed like wearing a hat and simply staring at me, I didn’t feel fear at first because I didn’t realize what was going on and in the next second when I blinked the shadow was gone and only then I realized. My eyes were open wide, my body was shaking and my ears sensitivity was extremely high, I could hear every single little noise around me, yet after one hour I calmed down. I am 17 now, after 10 years I haven’t seen the shadow anymore. I never thought of it again, until now, when I see that thousands of people have also seen it, not only me. By Alexandru Constantinescu

1st Encounter: My mom was taking a nap one afternoon and sadly I don’t remember exactly the time, but all I know is that I was also taking a nap in my room. I woke up to her screaming my name, “AUTUMN! AUTUMN!” this startled me awake and I jumped out of bed still shaking off sleep. Right after that, she screams, “THERE’S A MAN IN THE HOUSE! THERE’S A MAN IN MY CLOSET!” I ran to her room thinking there was a legit person in our house. I have a physical disability so I can’t defend myself or her. I scream at her, “Where?!” She then calms a bit and told me that what she saw wasn’t a real man, because he was solid black, like a silhouette. I was still confused. She said he was a ghost, which I understood to be a shadow person (I’ve been into the paranormal lately). She said he had a medium length beard and a top hat, but she couldn’t make out any smaller details on him, no eyes, but she saw his nose. She described him as Abraham Lincoln. I asked her what he was doing when she noticed him. And she said he was walking from her closet toward the bedroom door to exit. [ Sidenote: When you walk into the bedroom and go to the left, you pass the tv and walk into an area where the bathroom sink is, if you walk in further you go into the bathroom where the toilet and shower is, but if you take a left, you walk into the walk in closet. ] I asked her how she felt when she saw him, because before this happened I’ve heard of the hat man before and knew he brought people fear. She said she wasn’t afraid of him really. He just startled her, because she has doubts about the paranormal. She’s a very religious woman and a born again Catholic. This brings me to the second encounter. 2nd Encounter: Months went by and nothing else happened that made us worry. My mom happened […]
