I was talking to my sister about our childhood home, and I just want to know as why/how we experienced what we experienced. When you would enter our childhood home, our dining room was directly to the left. I always thought it was just my imagination, until yesterday. As a kid I would see random, opaque, figures in our unused dining room. Yesterday, I found out my sister saw them as well. Of course it was scary as a little kid, but they didn’t feel malicious, they were just there coexisting in our dining room.

We moved a couple of times after elementary school. Senior year of high school, I saw the hat man. I thought I was going insane. For months I would see the hat man. The scariest thing was his eyes, they were a piercing yellow. The hat man caused me to end up in a psych ward. I was so sleep deprived, and thought I was absolutely insane.

I moved across the country for college, and saw him just one more time after that. Yesterday I found out why. My sister started to see him as well, in a completely different state.

This may be completely unrelated, but I have always had lucid dreams. More specifically, I would have lucid dreams during non-REM sleep. I have never experienced sleep paralysis. I don’t know how to describe it; when I saw the hat man, I feel like I was both awake and asleep.

I just want to know why we both have experienced this; I’d be so grateful for any ideas as to why.
