I’m astounded to have found this info online. I googled “man in a top hat” this morning, not expecting to find anything. I did not see the man but a good friend of mine in TX called me the night before freaked out because her 4 year old daughter had seen him. She was in the living room alone and her mom was in the kitchen. When the mom came into the living room the little girls asked, “Who was that man in the magic hat?” (a hat like a magician) Her mother said, “What man?” (thinking it was something the child saw on TV). The little girl said, “the man who walked through the room a few minutes ago.” My friend searched the whole house thinking someone was in her house. When she couldn’t find anything she asked the little girl to tell her all about the man. She even asked her to draw a picture of the man. The little girl described a “wrinkled” man with black holes (presumably eyes) in his face, with grey hair (which could have been mist or shadow?), wearing a hat like a magician and a long coat. She said his clothes were dirty. (we think she was trying to describe dusty). She said he was looking down at the floor and did not look or speak to her. His boots were not touching the floor. She also said he was wearing a red striped tie. Later, she told her mother that the man was not alone. There was a woman, a small boy (whom she described as a “cowboy”) and a girl (wearing a cap that sounded to us like she was describing a hat worn by Amish women or maybe pioneer women.) She said the man was not “with” the woman and the children. They were just around him. She asked her mother why “the mommy wasn’t with the daddy”. There is just TOO much detail for a 4 year old to have made up. Neither my friend nor I had ever heard of “the hat man”. So this is definitely NOT some auto-suggestion type of thing. She’s totally freaked out and wondering if she should have the house blessed and the child prayed over. I’m intrigued.
I have always seen “shadows out the corner of my eyes” ever since I can remember. I always get the feeling that I walk into a room a millisecond too late and I see something passing or leaving. But, as far as I know or can recollect, I never saw the Hat Man or anything like him as a child. Unless I was so young that I can’t remember it. I told her that I didn’t get the feeling he was there to harm the child. My feeling is that he was what I call a “watcher”. My cousin and I had a discussion about it very late last night and we both feel the Hat Man may be a harbinger of some sort. Of what I can’t say. I’ve not been privileged enough to see that. But I feel that he is. But a harbinger of what? I don’t know. Maybe that would explain why some feel immense fear and dread when they see him? For them he is a harbinger of something bad coming their way and he projects the energy of that event. For others, they may be scared but don’t necessarily feel “bad vibes”. Maybe because he has no warning for them…he’s just watching? Very interesting. I need to read more and digest this for a bit.
