Part 1

Ok, so I saw this “hat man” when I was like, 8, and it was when I was in my parents’ bed. My story seems a Lil different than most of the others because I wasn’t paralyzed, frightened, or deeply affected in any way after the encounter. As abnormal as my story is going to sound, I’m going to include as many details as possible and ensure you that EVERYTHING I say is 100% true and that I’m sure of it, instead of a bunch of “I think I saw’s…?” Ok. Oh and by the way, I read earlier that some people see just pure blackness of hatman, some see him with detail and pale, grayish skin, and what I saw was the pale skin version of hatman. Ok.

So I was getting ready to watch the Simpsons with my stepdad in their bedroom cuz they had a nice tv and huge waterbed, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw this figure in a hat stick his head in the room through the doorway. He made a weird mumbling noise and when I turned my head to look he quickly pulled his head back out the door and out of site. At first, I assumed it was my stepbrother but he wasn’t gonna be home for a long time. Plus my stepbro is white with a shaved head and muscular and didn’t have clothes as this hat man guy did. Oh and btw the hatman was wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a long dark tattered trenchcoat and had a very dark complexion. When I realized my stepbrother wasn’t home and no one else was in the house I thought it could have been my imagination, but then a couple of seconds later my stepdad said: “…what was that?” To this day I don’t know why I didn’t ask my stepdad at the time if he saw it too, but I think it was cuz I assumed he was playing a prank on me, but he wasn’t, and I’m assuming he figured it was his imagination and didn’t say anything afterward. So I forgot about it and sometime later I came across this Sega Genesis game called “Chakan,” and on the cover is a hat man figure that is EXACTLY what I saw, only without the swords, and expressionless. Here’s a pic of the cover:

Part 2

After the pic reminded me of what I saw and made me realize it wasn’t just my imagination I’ve asked my stepdad numerous times if he remembers seeing something that night and he doesn’t. Since then it’s been a mystery to me & I keep brushing it off as my imagination playing tricks on me, until just last night I discovered a similar story to mine, then came to find that several other people have seen this “Hat Man” and describe him exactly as how I saw him. Also another note about what I saw – I wasn’t afraid at all, or even had any eery feeling whatsoever after this encounter, and here’s why. When he poked his head in (kinda as he leaned into the room so I saw his whole head, down to his waist which was at an angle, but his legs were still in the hallway).

I mentioned before that he “mumbled” something. Well as ridiculous as this is going to sound, I almost could have SWORN he hummed the first 5 notes of the Simpsons theme song at a fast pace, in the amount of time it took for me to see him out of the corner of my eye, to the time it took to turn my head and see him pull back behind the doorway. And this is an obvious reason as to why I had thought it was my imagination, cuz we had just settled to watch the Simpsons, so if an entity did show up it’d be too ridiculous if it hummed a bit of the Simpsons theme song as we were sitting down to watch The Simpsons. Anyway, the only explanations I can think of are that it could’ve been that man mumbling something else, and my childish mind heard it as the Simpsons theme coz I was excited that it was about to come on, OR, my stepdad started to hum it and then stopped when he noticed the figure too, and the figure may have just been standing there quietly; even tho I DISTINCTLY remember hearing it come from across the room from the doorway.

Ok so that’s my story, and I’ve never told the whole thing before. Now that I see other people have encountered this “hat man,” I wanted to share my experience, and I’ve tried to include every detail possible because I want to get to the bottom of this.
