I randomly looked up this topic. One of my great grandmothers on my mom’s side (my mother’s mother’s mother) would occasionally see a tall, thin man with a beard wearing a stove pipe hat. She stated that his clothing style and personal appearance reminded him of Abraham Lincoln’s time period. She would wake up to him standing at the bottom of her bed pulling on the blanket. My father on several occasions saw what he said was a man in a hat walking though the house or the yard. He saw this figure at my house one time too. He said the time period looked Turn of the Century (19th to 20th). I just randomly googled “people seeing a man in a hat,” and not only discovered this is some sort of a phenomenon, but stumbled across your site. So I am adding these vignettes to your collection.
