My first citing of the Hatman was quick and fleeting. I had just gotten out of the shower late one evening and opened the door, wrapped in a towel, ready to run to my bedroom. But when I peered down the hallway, I saw a crisp shadow against my parents dresser which made me hesitant to enter the hallway. It was a shadow of man in a wide brimmed hat. In less than a few seconds, the shadow “walked” out and away from the dresser. There was no sound and no eerie feeling. There was no possible way this shadow was caused by trees and a nightlight, as the angle would have been impossible.
At first, I thought it was my Dad or maybe one of my siblings. I called out a “hello” but no one answered. Everyone was downstairs watching TV. As soon as I realized I was alone upstairs, I had a chill down my spine. But whatever or whoever that was, was no longer there. This moment spooked me; I knew what I saw and that I wasn’t imagining anything. As bewildered as I was, I kept this to myself, hoping for a logical explanation that would never come. This has been my only unique encounter with the Hatman.
